Welcome to our March 2014 Garfield Families Newletter. We have been having a cold and wet March so far, maybe it will turn sunny and warm soon. As you know we are experimenting with a new way the Newsletter is being created, it still has a few bugs but as time goes on we should be able to work them out. We still need your help with stories and pictures to be included in future issues. Keep in touch with us and let us know what you want researched and printed about the Garfield Family.

Deacon Samuel Garfield, is my GGG Grandfather, he along with others, founded the Congregational Church in Kiantone, NY about the 1860's. The orginal building is still standing with additions built on later and is still very active. In the back of the church is a plaque with his name along with his fellow founders. Nancy and I have visited there a few times, talked with the present minister, and joined them in their yearly ice cream social. There are still Garfields living in the area around Jamestown, Busti, Panama and Kiantone. In the Stillwater Cemetery outside of Busti many Garfields are buried along with Joseph and many of his children's families. Dick Garfield
